Triangle’s 2025 Over-Under Spiel: Laughs, Friends, and a Few Really Colorful Champions
If you need proof that curling is more than just sliding rocks down a sheet of ice, you should’ve been at the 2025 Triangle Curling Over-Under Spiel. Our team may not have been the most competitive out there, but we brought our A-game in laughs, high-fives, and ridiculous sweeping advice (“Hurry… maybe?”). What we walked away with was better than a medal: new friends, unforgettable moments, and a reminder of why these bonspiels matter so much.
The Champs (And the Spirit Behind Them)
First, a massive congratulations to the winners and finalists who made the weekend so exciting:
- Jason and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Team captured the A Bracket championship, edging out Annie Get Your Broom in a final worthy of the spotlight.
- The B Bracket went to Three Bros One Rose, who proved that sibling energy plus a wild card is a recipe for success.
- In the C Bracket, the aptly named Over Under Dogs lived up to their name and walked away with the win.
- Rounding things out, the D Bracket was won by none other than American Idiots, proving that good humor and grit go hand-in-hand.
Even when we weren’t on the ice, we were cheering on these games. Every bracket had drama, great shots, and plenty of laughs.
Curling Clubs From Near and Far
The beauty of the Over-Under Spiel is the mix of clubs that gather. This year, Triangle welcomed curlers from:
- Philadelphia Curling Club
- Coastal Carolina Curling Club
- Potomac Curling Club
- Missoula Curling Club
- Great Smoky Mountains Curling Club – Home
- Peachtree Curling Association
- Curling Club of Virginia
- Bucks County Curling Club
- Curling Club of Houston
- Milwaukee Curling Club
- Charleston Curling Club
- Rocket City Curling Club
- Charlotte Curling Club
…plus plenty of homegrown talent from Triangle Curling Club itself. Having this mix of old friends and new faces makes the social side just as exciting as the competition.
Why We Keep Coming Back
For us, curling has always been about community first. Sure, hitting a double take-out feels amazing, but nothing beats trading stories with someone from Milwaukee, swapping pins with a team from Rocket City, or laughing at a sweep call gone terribly wrong. These events remind us that curling culture is goofy, welcoming, and bigger than the scoreboard.
At the Over-Under, the format ensures new curlers learn from seasoned ones, and seasoned curlers are reminded of the joy of just playing. That balance keeps the sport thriving.
Thank You, Triangle Curling
Finally, a huge thank you to the organizers and volunteers at Triangle Curling Club. From the ice crew to the kitchen staff to the folks wrangling brackets, your hard work made the event seamless and unforgettable. You created a space where teams could compete, laugh, and build friendships that will carry into the next bonspiel (and the next one after that). We’re so grateful.
So here’s to the 2025 Over-Under Spiel: the shots, the misses, the hugs, and the friendships. We’ll be back—and next year, who knows? Maybe we’ll even win a bracket. But even if we don’t, we know we’ll leave with the real prize: stories we’ll be telling for years.
